Famous for her margarita parties at the Redondo Beach International Antiques Fair, Suzanne Fox admits to having been perfectly at home being set up in a historic saloon at the Marburger Antique Show in Round Top, Texas.”The spirit of all the saloon girls and all the crazy cowboys was definitely still there,” said Fox, known for her Staffordshire dogs, majolica and cast iron garden items.The Marburger Show, a.k.a. Round Top, has an unusual format, explained Fox. Historic, vacant building are moved onto the field to create a little township.”It is very quaint and picturesque,’ she said. “It’s almost like going back in time and walking through a historical village.”The last Marburger Farm’s Show was Fox’s first, and she did particularly well with Victorian cast iron statuary.Round Top’s Fall 2010 show dates are September 28th-October 2nd.Fox hopes to set up at the upcoming California Country Show in Costa Mesa, but she hasn’t checked her calendar.”I love Tom Baker,” she said.

Peggy's texas finds at June 27th birthday celebration
“We shopped all day, every day for eight days,” announced Peggy Arbenz of Down Home Antiques about her recent successful trip to Round Top, Texas. She will be unveiling some of her amazing finds at their 10th Birthday Celebration on June 27th.Texas and New England finds will be showcased, along with patriotic, nautical and beach antiques and decorations. The event will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m, to 5:00 p.m. and gifts will be given to the first 50 customers.Arbenz regularly makes the trip to the semi-annual Texas event, which is comprised of more than half a dozen small rural Texas communities that gather at a midpoint between Houston and Austin.She was early to rise, but stayed up late attending antique store open house at some of the major stores, including Leftovers and Clutter.Peggy’s main Round Top goal is to come back with a truck full of country furniture, and once again, she was successful.With her loyal husband, Don, as the main mover, she brought back a 10′ long green and gray painted general store counter that she will price at $2,400. She also trucked back several old cupboards, including one that still retains its original peeling robin’s egg blue paint.”My husband says I buy by the pound,” she joked.Although Down Home is celebrating their 10th anniversary in Orange, they were located in Yorba Linda for two years prior to that.
